Valdepenas De Jaen-Granada ()
Scottish Bums in Andalucia (alt. J Strummer (London Calling)).
We all had individual rooms last night, I thought that was fantastic but Eric got lonely, felt like he was in solitary confinement in a cell including a barred window.
At a cafe at 9am for breakfast we saw a local wearing a Garmin watch drinking Pernod. We were waiting for his alcohol consumption monitor app to beep.
Supposedly some kind of rest day (it wasn’t) we rolled out of town and straight into an 8 mile climb up to 4300ft followed a lovely descent into Frailes.
This was followed by virtually no flat roads, all up or down until lunch in a very steep hillside town, Colomera, including a Jimmy Tours short cut special on roads so rough they make Ayrshire roads look like a marble top.
The final section into Granada was the hottest yet, Stead calling the air hairdryer heat-tastic, 15 miles rolling and then downhill through the city perimeter with views of a snow capped Sierra Nevada and into our very pleasant city centre hotel.
After changing and a cerveza we walked up to the Alhambra Palace and then into the centre for a Moroccan meal.

That water fountain has a sign beside which says it is forbidden to let livestock (sheep, goats, etc) drink from it. Fines from 100-1000 euro apply. Makes me wonder what the fine should be for wearing a sleeveless cycling top !!
