Ciudad Real-Viches()
Sickness in the group today (yours truly), someone seems to have taken my legs and appetite and replaced them with those of a 60 year old (no, wait a minute, that can’t be right).
Rolled out at a slower pace and had the first stop in Aldea del Rey including a chemist stop where I explained my symptoms using the magic of technology and got some pills (hopefully will help my gut but all in Spanish so they might be worming tablets).
After rolling roads and a couple of climbs we stopped for lunch in Almuradiel. The temperature was climbing as quickly as my energy was dropping and we soon hit a classic Jimmy Tours gravel section with climbs and descents of 20% plus. The Big Man and Jimmy rode them all, Eric rode most but I had to swallow my pride and push the bike up the steepest ones. Big G said the gravel was like riding on marbles.
This was followed by a beautiful section through Despeñaperros Natural Park with a climb up, an excellent spot for photos, and a smooth descent.
At a quick drink stop in Santa Elena we got chatting (sort of) to the local workers about to go back to work having drunk much cerveza (and they say the Scots can drink). For the final section we had a bit more gravel and then rolled into the hillside town of Vilches for the night.

Chris, you should maybe get Eric to check you all over for any small puncture wounds. You may have been bitten by the same snake as Eric did on Day 3.

Never good to feel ill on a cycle. Must have been the eggs. Gravel section sounds tough.
