AYRSHIRE to LOS MONTESINOS

cycle tour 2022

Blog - Final Report (Whole Trip)

Ayrshire-Los Montesinos(UK -  Spain)

Final report - Things we have learned on our trip that we did not know before leaving.

SCOTLAND
No one in Sanquhar eats black pudding!

ENGLAND
There are definitely mirages , one is the highest pub in Britain tanhill ( life saver)
Hull ! It ain’t pretty.

NETHERLANDS
Home of crosswinds
Fantastic cycling infrastructure .
Nobody wears a helmet on a bike , but everyone cycles
Drivers actually recognise cyclists
Never got offered any special cakes

BELGIUM
A lovely country with the same fantastic cycling infrastructure as The Netherlands.
Great beer
Great chocolate

FRANCE
We have heard many things about France one being the food is fantastic a culinary delight  - ha a lot of rubbish we couldn’t get anything decent to eat from  North to South of France unless of course you like cheese and ham baguettes because that’s all we could find .
For a start just finding anywhere open was a problem then getting them to make something other than menu of the day was impossible.
Another thing everybody in France seemed to be hiding as we passed through village after village without sight of anyone we cycled for miles without seeing a car - very strange.
Nice sunflowers

ANDORRA
Ski resorts are for winter time thank goodness we were only staying one night it was a concrete jungle and the food was terrible the only good thing to say was the road out next day was downhill !
Excellent place for stocking up with fags and alcohol

SPAIN
Dinner is unavailable before 8:30 pm !!!!
Brandy and beer with breakfast seems to be a start to the working day .
Always seemed to be a headwind
Mediterranean is lovely and warm

Thanks to Brian Loye for doing the blog and technical work on the live track and to all our ardent followers for their comments and good wishes helping to keep us going.

Also thanks to the Mayor's office for the welcome we received at Los Montesinos.
