Fayon-Vinaros()
Up early and on the road at 7am with no breakfast. Started with a couple of miles of flowing descent then a 10 mile climb. Not a word spoken till it was over - no fallouts just how it is. Hard enough but on empty stomachs even harder. Some nice smooth roads to our first stop for breakfast in Gandesa at 19 miles .
Some more beautiful fast flowing descending but then Jimmy shouts "turn here" and we thought oh here we go again Jimmy tours gravel. To our surprise it was the best gravel section we’ve ever been along - a disused railway line called vie Verda val de zafan - with 18 huge tunnels carved out of the mountain with lights in the roofs lighting up our way - fantastic . If Carlsberg did cycle tracks this is it !! Jimmy tours redeemed himself today.
Stopped at a bike rental place half way along the track for refreshments and inner tubes.
Off again onto more track and roads to our lunch stop At Tortosa 46 miles .
26 miles to go and all on decent if not a bit busy roads - bit of a non event, long straight boring roads last 8 or so into a strong headwind. We arrived at our hotel in Vinaros at 3pm and had a quick drink before a visit to the beach. The guys quickly stripped off and plunged into the inviting waters of the med - hesitant at first Tesla Jim also decided to dive in. But oops, he forgot to take his phone, kitty and a jam baguette out his pocket. There was a scrap on the beach as the seagulls descended to scoff jam butty.
Guess what had to be dried out back at the hotel - kitty money along with our kit
A couple of beers at the hotel and taxi into town for dinner.
