Blog - Euro Day 18 (Sun 7 Aug)

Tarrega-Fayon(Spain)

Enid is back pen in hand after 2 days off with jippy tummy.

After a nice breakfast in the hotel & long Sunday lie we made our way to local shop to stock up on water.

Finally on the road for 09.30 some good roads early on and the miles flew by, coffee stop at 22 miles more water on board.

Off again and some Jimmy tours gravel  (excellent quality) and some of the worst roads in Spain (Sudonel) for filled in potholes - really bumpy, worst roads we’ve encountered so far.

Not much scenery today mainly farmland pear orchards although we did see a number of large birds of prey soaring above us - eagles or vultures apparently very common in Spain - not enough meat on Gordon these days to make a swoop worth there while.

Finally managed a wee shot on the front before our lunch stop at Seros 50 miles.

Onward with some decent roads over a massive bridge at Mequaneza with a view of the castle on top of the hill.

One last climb of 4 miles was a bugger, before descending into Fayon where our host Sylvia met us at the local bar / restaurant where we were having a well earned drink. She directed us to the house where she had left us 6 cold bottles of water in the fridge.

Big garage and yard area allowed us to wash 2 weeks of Jimmy tours dust off the bikes.

A wee nap then out for beer and dinner.
