Phillipe, last night's host, made us a lovely meal, served in the garden. He also made us breakfast with fresh hot bread straight from the bakers oven .
We set off at 7.45 and were quickly on the canal du midi, a paved flat path,(all the way to Carcassonne so we thought) it soon turned into single track ( much to the delight of Eric ) not !!!!! The remaining path was a rough rooted, leg sapping gravel path.
At the first stop at 35 miles the decision was made to push on to Carcassonne, (by the wee food rationer) who said we would be ok because we had a full bag of crisps each .
Carcasone donned and the fuel lights were on (I was on reserve, Big G). Decided it was the last supper, hen broon departing, so a 3 course meal was the order of the day . Bad move for those with 18 lumpy miles still to cover . (dinner almost ended up on the road)
A tearful fair well at the gates of the castle, tears of sadness for some, and tears of joy for others .
Made our way up more hills to wards Limoux and found an oasis where we dooked our heids under the fountain of cold water as it was almost 40 degrees.
Onward to our air B&b apt in Limoux then out for cold beer and dinner.

Yes got to agree photos are fantastic but when the he'll did Rodger Whitaker join you on the journey .......hope Big Hen Broon is heading home to get a well earned rest at The But An Ben and Postman Pat doesn't chap the door while he is recovering ...so down to The 3 Musketeer's..look after each other and enjoy the rest of your journey
